Block of the Month Block 1 instructions
Block 1
Make four of these blocks.
Different color combination on each block.
Before cutting decide how you want your colors. You will cut 2 1/2 inch strips for the sides of the blocks. Place your ruler with
1 1/4 inches on each side of the strip line.
Each block will have four matching sides. There is enough fabric to cut all four sides out of one strip
You willl need to make the same decisions on the corner squares. Decide which red/cream strips you will use for each block. Again you can get four squares out of each strip.
Below is a photo of how you lay your ruler to cut the square.
If you have a 2 1/2 inch square ruler, that works great.
Lay the fabric out fully on your cutting mat. Using the photos
for a guide, place straight pins across the two strips that you are going to use for your half square blocks. After you have everything marked and are sure about your cuts....cut out the strips you need for each part, leaving the two strips connected. You will make four square out of each strip set.
Do the same for the strips for your side pieces. This time, put the pin in an up and down manner to signify the side strips.
